Day 1: Errachidia to Merzouga via Ziz Valley & Erfoud
Our 3 day Morocco desert tour starts the moment you land. Your driver is waiting at the airport — a warm handshake and you’re already on your way south.
The road takes you through the Ziz Valley, a long line of palm trees and small villages sitting between bare rocky hills. Roll the window down. The air already feels different. You stop in Erfoud, a town built on the remains of an ancient sea. In the fossil workshops, you hold stones with 350-million-year-old creatures locked inside. It makes you look at the landscape around you in a new way.
Then the dunes appear. The flat ground gives way to walls of sand reaching high into the sky. Your camel is waiting. You climb on — a little awkward at first — and the slow walk into the desert begins. Sunset turns the sand from gold to orange to deep red.
Your tent is luxurious and comfortable. Dinner arrives — something warm, something local. Around the fire, an Amazigh musician plays, and the stars above are more numerous than you have ever seen.

Day 2: Desert tour by 4*4 - Nomadic families - Gnawa music - Mfis Mine- Dayet Srij
Wake up early. The sunrise over the dunes is worth it every time. Watch the light move across the sand before the day gets going. After breakfast, you visit a nomadic family who still live in the desert the old way. They show you their home, share tea with you, and talk about life in this place. It is simple and genuinely interesting.
The morning continues at a high viewpoint where the desert stretches out in every direction. Then on to the Mfis Mine, where the land was once dug for minerals and the scenery feels almost like another planet. In a nearby village, a group of Gnawa musicians play. The rhythm is deep and steady — you feel it before you fully hear it.
We will visit Dayet Srij (If the season is right), a lake that appears in the middle of the desert. Flamingos sometimes stand in the shallow water. The dunes are reflected on the surface. It is one of those places that is hard to believe is real.
If it is market day in Rissani, you can walk through the souk — spices, leather, dates, animals — a market that has been running for hundreds of years.

Day 3 : Final morning - Return to Errachidia - Departure

After breakfast, the bags are packed. The dunes slowly disappear behind you as you drive north. The same landscape you crossed on day one looks a little different now. You know it better. You see more in it.

Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the best times to visit, with mild weather. Winter is also good with sunny days and cool nights, while summer is very hot and less recommended.
Merzouga is about 130 km south of Errachidia, which takes roughly 1.5 to 2 hours by car. The drive passes through the Ziz Valley and Erfoud, so the journey itself is part of the experience rather than just a transfer.
No problem at all. A 4×4 transfer to the desert camp is available as an alternative. You still reach the same camp and have the full overnight experience — you just skip the camel ride. Let your guide know in advance so it can be arranged.
